Strictly speaking, there are no fixed rules for headshots, but in practice, there are guidelines, especially for certain situations.  Otherwise, the choice of background is largely personal choice. 
The studio has a variety backgrounds and below you will find some examples to help visualize what they might look like.
Plain White or Gray
While simple, many like the plain white or gray because it focuses attention on the subject.  This is also great for specific situations, such as casting websites, theater programs and a photo accompanying a bio.

The studio also has various color papers.  Just a note, this does take more setup time and may require setting up strobes.
